For decades, I — and likely you — have watched this revolving door of political wannabes waltz straight from university lecture halls to parliamentary power, skipping that bothersome “real job” phase.
No real work experience, just a fast-track from law school to political offices, clutching (Albo) the coattails of some revered Labor stalwart. Grift (yes, grift, not drift) their way in, and before you know it, they’re the ones making decisions — for us.
Experts in nothing but handshakes and wheeling-and-dealing, they cozy up to corporate interests, pretending it’s all in the name of the “public good.” Sure.
If Joe Biden can step aside gracefully — or at least read the room before getting pushed off the ledge — why can’t Australia’s politicians follow suit? Instead, every time you blink, another backroom deal materializes between the Liberal Coalition and Labor, with all the key players playing nice with corporate donors and “the boss.”
While Biden’s exit gave other world leaders a wake-up call, Australia’s political class clutches to power like it’s their own personal ATM. Why aren’t they stepping aside? Simple. When you’re knee-deep in corporate cash and cushy deals, democracy comes a distant second to your bank balance.
